FORT LAUDERDALE _ Here's the rub: Pat Riley never expected to be this busy this summer. This was all supposed to be a prelude to next summer, when Riley would revamp and revitalize his initial Heat blueprint.

With Wednesday's confirmation that the Blazers' Brian Grant is in and Chris Gatling and Clarence Weatherspoon are out, Riley once again proved that while patience is a virtue, a proactive approach means never having to tell fans to wait till next year.
