FORT LAUDERDALE _ It proved to be an all-or-nothing summer for the Heat.
Agent Mark Bartelstein confirmed that had the Heat not landed guard Eddie Jones from Charlotte earlier this month, it would not have been in position to land power forward Brian Grant from Portland in a three-team trade completed Wednesday.
Bartelstein, who represents both Grant and former Heat power forward P.J. Brown, said the Heat was not even on Grant's radar until Brown was packaged in the Aug. 1 trade that delivered Jones.
From that point, one good turn led to another.
"The first day Miami and I spoke about Brian Grant was the day after the [Jones] trade," Bartelstein said.
