FOND DU LAC, Wis. _ Vice President Al Gore wrapped up a two-day Midwest bus tour Monday and then headed to Oregon, keeping up a relentless campaign pace that he portrays as hard work and his opponents describe as desperation.
Gore concluded his Great Lakes Prosperity Tour through Michigan and Wisconsin, including a rally with a gleaming Lake Michigan behind him. It was one of Gore's final attempts to convince voters that changing direction would risk wrecking the economy.
The tour also continued Gore's energetic pace, which started in the primaries but has escalated with the approach of Election Day. Gore made at least 13 stops on Sunday and Monday combined.
