* Guidance Now, Changes Later for Privacy Rule. Asked for details on how the Administration might alter the medical information privacy rule on matters such as allowing parents access to minor children's records, Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson said April 26 that "we're not there yet." At present, the Department is developing guidance documents for some of the more confusing parts of the rule, such as clarification that relatives can pick up prescriptions for one another or a doctor can retrieve a patient's x-rays from a lab technician without having to go through the entire informed consent process.
