Apr. 24--STATE AGENCY'S SURVEY TARGETS INSURERS FOR NURSING HOMES: Are insurance companies really shying away from covering the state's nursing homes?
The Florida Department of Insurance wants to know.
That's why Insurance Commissioner Bill Nelson sent out a questionnaire to 507 commercial liability insurance firms last week, asking them whether they now write nursing home liability coverage in Florida and if they will continue to insure nursing centers in the state.
While firms that cancel nursing home insurance policies aren't required to notify regulators, they must respond to the commissioner's special information request by Tuesday.
