Apr. 28--Fort Lauderdale has created a new Foreign Trade Zone that dwarfs the 200-acre county zone now operated from Port Everglades.
The new zone, which is being heralded as a boon to international trade, encompasses 1,260 acres countywide with about two-thirds falling within Fort Lauderdale. The hub is at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, with six satellite areas spread among Fort Lauderdale, Weston and North Broward.
