May 11--TRINIDAD, Colo.--Las Animas County's proposed regulations for construction and site selection of public utility projects are available for public review.
The regulations are based on a 1974 state law that gives counties the right to place additional conditions on certain proposed projects of "state interest."
Last month, the County Commission placed a moratorium on issuing permits for utility companies until the new regulations could be put in place. The moratorium came midway in the permitting process for two major proposed utility projects.
