Jul. 11--SBC Communications will offer Compaq Presario computers to customers who subscribe to its high-speed Internet access service, the first Baby Bell to dangle a PC as an enticement for DSL.
But the computers, which SBC will buy from Compaq Computer Corp., then resell, will not be free.
Subscribers who opt for the deal will pay $60 a month for two years, $20 more than SBC's standard DSL price. They also must pay a $198 delivery fee for the computer, said John Nolan, director of retail DSL product management...
