Jul. 6--The Autauga County Board of Education will hold the first of two annual public budget hearings tonight at 6:30 p.m.
The budget meetings are mandated by law, said Lois Finlay, the board's custodian of funds.
Next year's more than $68 million budget is definitely bare bones, she said, adding, "This is a no frills budget. Just basic state requirements."
Board chairman Jerry deBin agreed.
"It's my understanding that after several years of deficit spending this is the first balanced budget that we have been able to achieve," he said.
