Ventura County, Calif.-Area Bank to Give Checks to 26 Nonprofit Groups.

Aug. 4--Wells Fargo Bank of Western Ventura County is scheduled to present $1,000 checks to each of 26 nonprofit organizations this morning.

Bank employees of the local region's store were asked to nominate Ventura County nonprofit organizations worthy of the grant. By the July deadline, 26 different organizations were nominated, and all receive grant checks today at an awards gathering at the Residence Inn in Oxnard.

"This program is the reverse of what nonprofits usually do to get funding," said Steve Campbell, vice president and district manager for Wells Fargo of Western Ventura County.
