CONSUMER PRICE INDEX
The CPI's healthcare components measure consumer out-of-pocket expenses and household health insurance premium payments in urban areas, excluding Medicare and Medicaid funded treatments. The prices collected are those contained in each hospital's chargemaster, which reflects published charges. The base ported, which equals 100, is 1982-1984.
