Nov. 24--LOWVILLE, N.Y. -- Lewis County legislators on Monday approved retroactive pay hikes for most employees at Lewis County General Hospital and set a public hearing on a law giving raises to several county department heads.
Lawmakers voted 9-0 to approve a new labor agreement between the county-owned hospital and its approximately 400 union employees. Legislator Nicholas E. Byrne, D-Lyons Falls, was absent.
"It's a good contract for all involved," said Legislator Dennis F. Kraeger, R-Lowville, chairman of the legislative Hospital Committee.
