U.S. stocks rise on good oil, jobless data
NEW YORK, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- U.S. investors Wednesday took heart in good energy cost and jobless data, sending major U.S. stock indexes higher.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 17.96 or 0.17 percent to 10,510.56 in late-morning trading. The Nasdaq composite gained 16.34 or 0.78 percent to 2,100.62, and the Standard & Poor's 500 picked up 4.06 or 0.34 percent to 1,181.00.
Crude oil futures fell below $49 per barrel, and the Labor Department said initial jobless claims fell by 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted level of 323,000 in...
