Nov. 24--Cingular Wireless LLC expects to cut its work force of 68,000 by about 10 percent over the next year to 18 months as it digests its merger with AT&T Wireless Services Inc., Cingular's chief executive said Tuesday.

Speaking to The Associated Press, Cingular president and CEO Stan Sigman said he anticipated that the bulk of the estimated 7,000 job cuts would come from the administrative ranks rather than from customer service.
