Nov. 22--LOWVILLE, N.Y. -- Flat Rock Wind Power has chosen a turbine supplier and begun preliminary road work for its proposed 190-turbine wind farm on Tug Hill in Lewis County in hopes of completing most or all of the $380 million project next year.
Flat Rock Project Manager William M. Moore Jr., co-principal of Atlantic Renewable Energy Corp., Richmond, Va., said his company on Wednesday sent an order for 1.65-megawatt turbines to Vestas, a Danish manufacturer.
"They're the best turbines in the world," Mr. Moore said.
A bridge and road reconstruction project on Borkowski Road in the town of Martinsburg is also under way, he said, and crews are set to take soil samples from each proposed tower site, beginning later...
