Nov. 22--LOWVILLE, N.Y. -- While the proposed Flat Rock Wind Power project will likely be the north country's first wind farm, it probably won't be the last.
The proposed 190-turbine wind farm in the Lewis County towns of Harrisburg, Martinsburg, Lowville and Watson is still at least a year from completion.
However, Project Manager William M. Moore Jr., co-principal of Atlantic Renewable Energy Corp., Richmond, Va., said he's already started working on six other potential wind farm projects, five of them in the north country.
"There's no reason this can't be a growth industry in New York state," he said.
