Nov. 19--Hundreds of manufacturing workers from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. attended a series of information meetings yesterday about possibly forming a union.
The three meetings at the Holiday Inn Select in Winston-Salem were organized by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which introduced itself to the employees and outlined the differences between the benefits of unionized workers at Philip Morris USA Inc. and those at Reynolds, which is nonunion.
Most attempts to unionize Reynolds over the years have been unsuccessful. But an official with the machinists union said that interest in organizing a union...
