Nov. 18--It's a job hunter's nightmare: a firm offer is pulled from the table after a final background investigation mistakenly reports you face a criminal charge.
That's the scenario outlined by Derek T. Wilson in court papers filed during his two-year legal battle involving Newark-based Prudential Financial.
Wilson says that in August 2002 the financial giant offered him a $45,000 position in Washington, D.C., as a relocation counselor, helping companies move their employees around the country.
But Prudential rescinded the offer after an erroneous background report stated he had a criminal charge pending in Oklahoma, Wilson says.
