Nov. 17--Count the Triad's community colleges among the groups anxiously awaiting Dell Inc.'s decision about where it will build a computer-assembly plant in the Triad.

Officials are eager to begin tackling one of the largest projects in the history of the N.C. Community College System -- the training of 700 full-time Dell employees in the first year and 1,500 over five years.

But until Dell decides on a plant site, which is expected in a few weeks, the officials will just have to wait along with Triad economic developers and residents. Forsyth and Guilford counties are the front-runners for the proposed plant, although Davidson County sites are being considered.
