Nov. 16--Economic officials with Triad-wide responsibilities have declared victory with Dell Inc.'s decision to build a computer-assembly plant in the region.
Even so, those officials said they are aware they must play a neutral role in the incentive battle between Forsyth and Guilford counties, which are considered as the front runners for the project. Dell is expected to announce in a few weeks the site for its 400,000-square-foot plant.
"This decision certainly is a victory for the Triad and for the 1,500 people who will be gainfully employed with one of the fastest-growing companies in the world," said Don Kirkman, the president of the Piedmont Triad Partnership.
