Oct. 28--MONTEREY COUNTY WINEMAKERS have reason to toast themselves after their trade association nabbed a $149,200 federal grant to promote locally produced wine.
The Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association was told this week it would be one of 10 in California to receive the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Value-Added Producer Grant.
The money will help pay for the group's branding campaign that in the past two years has taken local winemakers across the country to promote Monterey County wine.
