DALLAS -- Povidone-iodine spray may offer a time- and cost-saving alternative to the traditional 5-minute scrub technique as skin preparation for abdominal surgery, Dr. Michael Moen said at the annual meeting of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons.
In a pilot study that included 60 patients undergoing vaginal surgery, one half of each patient's abdomen was prepared with the 5-minute iodophor soap scrub-and-paint technique.
