Dear Editor:
We are the lead author and the Department of Energy (DOE) program manager, respectively, of tire DOE report produced by TIAX LLC (formerly Arthur D. Little Technology & Innovation) referenced in the May 2004 EUN article "LEEDing the Way." Our report, "Energy Consumption Characteristics of Commercial Building HVAC Systems-Volume Ill: Energy Savings Potential" (available at: www.eere.energy.gov/buildings/documents/), did indeed find that several technology options have the potential to achieve significant reductions in commercial building HVAC energy consumption with attractive payback periods.
