A fetal abdominal circumference measuring at least 38 cm is associated with a 37% chance of having a baby who will weigh at least 4,500 g, said Dr. Jennifer R. Gilby and her colleagues at the University of South Florida, Tampa.

Though exact fetal weight cannot be determined by clinical or ultrasound means, fetal abdominal circumference is a useful advance warning of the possibility of macrosomia, the investigators re ported (J. Reprod. Med. 45 [11]: 936-38, 2000). ...
