Opponents Take Notice of Twins' Speedster Cristian Guzman
Minnesota shortstop is rated as an up-and-coming major league talent by his coaches and peers
GARCIAPARRA, JETER, RODRIGUEZ. Guzman?
"He's an exciting player," Boston's Nomar Garciaparra says.
"He's unbelievable," says Alex Rodriguez.
Twins shortstop Cristian Guzman may play in the quiet of small-market Minnesota, the depths of last place in the A.L. Central the last two seasons, and in the considerable shadows of the top shortstops in the league, but his fast-emerging talent has not escaped the notice of those in the game.
"Every team we play against says the same thing," said Twins third base coach Ron Gardenhire, who works with the infielders. "They say, `That Guzman kid can really play hard. He's going to be a superstar.'"
