NEW ORLEANS _ A visit to the National D-Day Museum begins before you even enter the building.
The moment you step on the sidewalk, you notice the hundreds of bricks dedicated to men and women who fought in World War II. The memories take over.
For some, they are of brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, who left to defend America's freedoms on another shore.
For some, they are memories of climbing out of the belly of a ship and running onto Omaha Beach, unsure if you would ever return home.
For some, they are memories of steel pennies and gas coupons.
And for others, they are only memories of schoolwork and the hope that recess will be soon.
