Byline: Paul Sullivan
After suffering a strained rib cage muscle during Monday's game, Greg Maddux played catch before Tuesday's game with Houston.
"I felt sore in the places I'm supposed to be sore in," Maddux said, downplaying the injury.
Maddux has had the injury before, and said it usually affects him for the next two or three pitches after feeling the pinch in his right side, and then it goes away. He received treatment from trainer Dave Groeschner on Tuesday, but Groeschner said Maddux was a reluctant patient.
"I take that as a compliment," Maddux said.
Maddux still feels the bruised right shin after taking a line drive off it in Houston last week, but he said it didn't affect his pitching on Monday. He is supposed to throw a bullpen session Wednesday and is on schedule to start against Pittsburgh on Sunday, following Mark Prior and Carlos Zambrano in the series.
