Freightliner Coronado

Freightliner Corp., Portland, Ore., has unveiled the Coronado, a premium, traditional, conventional tractor, aimed squarely at the owner operator market. It will be available with a 70-in. Raised Roof SleeperCab, the 70-in. Mid-Roof XT SleeperCab, and a Day Cab.

The Coronado's aluminum grille and 1,500-sq.-in. radiator allows for a maximum airflow resulting in optimized cooling for engines from 425 to 600 hp from Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar, and Cummins. A 500-hp DDC Series 60 is standard.

Its wrap-around dash provides easy access to instrumentation and controls, according to the company, while its sloped, curved windshield allows for optimal airflow over the cab. A built-in office and dining area formed by fold-down table and chairs is optional.

The Coronado also is available with SmartShift for hands-on-the-wheel shifting of Eaton and Meritor automated transmissions. Its gear position is displayed on the standard Driver Message Center, which lets the driver monitor trip mileage, fuel economy, and vehicle status.

Standard equipment includes Freightliner's Equiflow fuel system, which ensures an equal level of fuel in both tanks, and improves ground clearance, says the company.
