GREEN BAY, Wis. _ The Green Bay Packers secondary is known as much for the long locks and post-play dances as it is for interceptions and quarterback blitzes.
Darren Sharper has picked up where LeRoy Butler left off as the team's emotional gauge. A conversation with Marques Anderson is always over the top with Pro Bowl and Super Bowl aspirations. Al Harris is no chatty Cathy, but when he says something, it's either funny or insightful. Mike McKenzie is a tough nut to crack, but when he does open up, he reveals unique opinions and perspectives.
So here comes the Packers' newest addition to that group, the rookie, 20 years old, just the slightest southern accent giving away his Atlanta roots. Clean-cut and uncomplicated, the first impression of Ahmad Carroll in his first NFL minicamp is that he is no giddy kid just glad to be here.
For instance, it is 1:06 p.m. and he makes sure you know he's got a meeting at 1:30. If he's not playing football, he's training for it. At Arkansas, where he was a first-team all-Southeastern Conference selection, he rose before sunrise and was doing biceps curls by 6 a.m. He's usually asleep by 10 p.m. In his spare time he finds a television, a couch and a nap.
