Sometime in the next few weeks, holes in the ground will appear.
Icky white nymphs that will soon become red-eyed bugs almost as big as your thumb will emerge by the millions.
They're so ugly they've been described as cigar butts with wings.
Their "song," as some call it, is so loud and raucous it's been compared to a jackhammer.
