Apr. 23--In a surprise shakeup, New York publishing giant Time Inc. streamlined top management at two of its biggest magazines.

According to an internal memo, Peter Bauer, president of Time cash cow People Weekly, moves over to the Life Magazine development team. He'll be reporting to Andy Blau, general manager of Time and head of the resurrected Life project.

Bauer, who has held the position at People since September, 2002, isn't being replaced.

Also not being replaced is Bruce Hallett, the president of Sports Illustrated, who is leaving, according to the memo authored by Time Inc. chairman and CEO Ann Moore and …
