CHICAGO -- Two-thirds of women with negative breast biopsies will return for follow-up assessments, and another 20% will seek follow-up after being sent a reminder letter.

Follow-up assessments are needed when women have negative breast biopsies. The biopsy result is not a definitive diagnosis. A negative result can be a false negative in about 1% of cases, Dr. Silvia Chang warned at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America.
