LOS ANGELES _ In a development seemingly in keeping with the Left Coast weirdness of California's recall effort, flamboyant Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt has joined 258 others as a candidate to replace Gov. Gray Davis if he is removed from office.
Flynt's declaration Friday came as actor Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared to have finally made up his mind not to run.
The moderate Republican will appear on the Wednesday broadcast of the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" where he will discuss his decision. He will announce his decision just before the taping.
Candidates have to declare themselves by Aug. 9 _ a week from now _ to be eligible for the Oct. 7 election.
"He will announce his decision prior to the show," said Sean Walsh, spokesman for the actor. Walsh said Schwarzenegger had yet to make up his mind, but a growing number of sources have said he will not run.
Walsh said the actor is leaning against running.
