TOKYO _ Today's angle seemed so obvious. Then I ran into Daniel Betacourt.
"Living in a foreign country, you long for things American," he said. "And what is more American than the Super Bowl champions?"
He was on the Tokyo Dome field Friday morning, and Jon Gruden was a few feet away talking to TV cameras. More important, Gruden was wearing the cap Betacourt had just given him.
"Warlords HSL-51" it said.
That's an anti-submarine squadron from Atsugi Naval Air Facility. Now its emblem would be appearing on TV screens back home, and the look on a chopper pilot's face showed why Saturday's game actually matters.
"This is so awesome," Betacourt said.
