"Khartoum" is a mixture of historical fact and Hollywood fiction that tells the story of the confrontation in 1884 and 1885 between British Gen. Sir Charles "Chinese" Gordon (Charlton Heston), and the Mahdi (Laurence Olivier), who besieged him in Khartoum in the Sudan.
