IT'S NOT INEVITABLY A CASE OF "PLAY me or trade me" or "love me or leave me" but relations between managers and players are always fragile, often tense and occasionally even erupt into physical confrontation.
Not that a lively exchange of views culminating in a resort to bare fists is as frequent as it used to be. In this supposedly more civil era, disagreements between managers and players are usually limited to accusations, ridicule, slander, backstabbing, threats of fines or suspensions, benchings and similarly genteel responses and retaliations.
As far as is known, none of the more publicized disputes of recent seasons degenerated into slugfests ...
