GG&G Flip-Up Sight.
The latest, most cutting-edge military rifle is the M4 version of the M16A2. Basically, the M4 is a modular weapons system featuring a foreend with Picatinney rails for mounting the operator's choice of white lights, night vision devices, lasers, vertical grips and other accessories. The receiver of an M4 is flat -- no carrying handle - and also features a Picatinney rail for mounting different types of sights.
Now if you remember your basic M16 characteristics, the carrying handle houses the rear sight. Take off the carrying handle, and there goes your rear sight.
