With the prospect of ever-expanding non-toxic shot requirements, Winchester is facing the challenge head-on with the development of a new and less expensive steel shot for the hunting community.
Called "cast steel shot," the new shot is already being loaded in Winchester's "Xpert" steel shot line. The good news is that the retail cost of the new Xpert shells is approximately 2/3 that of conventional steel shot loads. What makes the cost reduction possible is an entirely new shot-manufacturing process combined with a complete makeover of the Xpert shell.
