Microsoft's new Midtown Madness 3 for the Xbox could go a long way in converting nonbelievers to Xbox Live.
This racing game is burdened with a single-player off-line mode that borders on the insulting, but the online game play is sheer joy. Midtown ($49; suitable for all ages) is much more a lighthearted, destructive romp than a pure simulation, and you'll laugh a lot when you play.
In the off-line mode, if you're playing alone, there are two sets of "missions" you can play, either in Paris or Washington, D.C.
