WASHINGTON _ A hundred years have passed since Orville and Wilbur Wright's first flight, but Tuesday that historic flight came alive for some Washington YMCA summer campers.
The 34 boys and girls sat under the first airplane at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and watched Lynne Cheney present the first James Madison Book Award for a book detailing the first manned flight.
Cheney, wife of Vice President Dick Cheney, presented the award to author Peter Busby and illustrator David Craig for their work on "First to Fly," a 32-page book about the Wrights' first flight on Dec. 17, 1903.
