ANSWER: The Monroney label, or window sticker, is invaluable. Never leave the dealership without it. And make copies for safe keeping.

The Monroney label lists every piece of equipment that's standard and optional, the engine and transmission in your car, where the vehicle was built and the VIN, or vehicle identification number.

That's all valuable so you can quickly confirm that your vehicle is or isn't one of those in question when the media reports a recall--and the media gets notice before letters are sent to owners.
