Several readers have asked about caffeine content in various beverages. Here are a few basics from the Center for Science in the Public Interest Web site at www.cspinet.org. Perform a search using the keyword "caffeine" to view a more detailed list. But here are some highlights researchers for the Washington D. C.-based organization gathered from the National Coffee Association, National Soft Drink Association and Tea Council of the USA.

Brewed coffee (8 ounces): 135 milligrams

Instant coffee (8 ounces): 95 milligrams

Brewed green tea (8 ounces): 30 milligrams

Lipton, basic tea bag (8 ounces): 35-40 milligrams

Celestial Seasonings Herb tea, brewed, all varieties (8 ounces): 0 milligrams
