DUBLIN, Ohio _ Kenny Perry always thought of himself as a good player who flew under the radar. Even when he won at the Bank of America Colonial, he was nothing more than the answer to a trivia question:
Who won the tournament Annika Sorenstam played in?
Perry, though, made sure he was picked up on everyone's radar at the Memorial tournament. In a performance worthy of the event's host, Jack Nicklaus, Perry made it two in a row Sunday.
Perry stumbled a bit on the back nine, but still shot a par 72 at Muirfield Village Golf Club to beat Lee Janzen by two shots. He had such a cushion that 65s by Mike Weir, who finished third, and Tiger Woods, who finished in a tie for fourth with Vijay Singh, were rendered moot.
The 42-year old from Kentucky became the fifth player to win back-to-back events since 2000. Woods, who did it twice, had admiration for Perry's feat.
"He's playing beautifully," Woods said. "To do it here in back-to-back weeks with the wind blowing as it was, he has put up some pretty good numbers."
