MIAMI BEACH, Fla. _ A man enraged by loud music from a birthday party that went late into the early hours of Sunday morning is charged with the shooting of five of his neighbors, killing three of them, police said.
Kevin Evers, 41, was found at his parents' Sunrise, Fla., home hours after he fled the scene where he had been staying. He is being held in the Dade County Jail on murder charges, Miami Beach police spokesman Bobby Hernandez said.
Sunday morning, Patricio Ernesto Fondovila, 33, lay dead in front of the apartment were he had been celebrating his wife's 27th birthday. Behind him lay his friend Luis Alberto Ledesma, 34. Inside, under a "happy birthday" banner, lay another friend, Elizabeth Ferreira, police said.
Two other people suffered minor injuries and were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Hernandez said. They were released Sunday.
"None of our detectives can remember having a triple homicide murder, never mind a triple homicide involving a neighbor dispute," Hernandez said.
Evers had argued with the partygoers earlier that night and had asked them to turn their music down, police said. The victims were shot around 4 a.m. from about 10 feet away; nine shell casings were found on the street, Hernandez said.
