ANAHEIM, Calif. _ Lost in Saturday's dramatic 3-2 overtime Stanley Cup Finals win for Anaheim was Mighty Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere breaking the NHL record of his idol, Patrick Roy, for longest playoff overtime shutout streak.
It's at 167 minutes, 48 seconds and counting.
"It's not important," Giguere said. "What was important was the win. We'll take that record as a team because this is a team thing."
Amazingly, the Mighty Ducks are 6-0 in overtime in the playoffs. They have a poise about them in tight games, going 24-15 in one-goal games during the regular season and 11-1 in one-goal games in the playoffs.
"We normally don't give up too much," Mighty Ducks coach Mike Babcock said. "We've given up way more than we expected to in this series. But you learn how to play in these tight situations."
