ANAHEIM, Calif. _ Last year at the Stanley Cup Finals, Carolina coach Paul Maurice was talking about the risk-and-reward game of former Hurricane Geoff Sanderson.

"One night he was in our end and I was screaming, `Dump it out!"" Maurice said. "The next thing you know Sandy had beaten three guys and was at center. Then I was yelling, `Dump it in!' Then he got by two more checkers and blew this shot by their goalie. I thought to myself, `Or you can do that.""

Maurice might as well have been talking about his former Carolina defenseman, Sandis Ozolinsh, because this describes the former Panther and now-Mighty Duck.

One shift, he can kill you. The next, he can win you the game.

Kevin Constantine, Ozolinsh's coach in San Jose, used to say that he constantly went from, "Ozo! No! No! No!" to "Ozo! Go! Go! Go!" in a matter of seconds. Marc Crawford, Ozolinsh's coach in Colorado, used to joke that he could pick out a gray hair and tell you precisely the date Ozolinsh gave it to him.

Mighty Ducks General Manager Bryan Murray felt like this when he saw the 31-year-old Ozolinsh pinching in with a minute left in Game 6 against Dallas.
