Byline: Jerry Brewer
Come on, now. It's time to confess.
The one thing that has you doubting the New Jersey Nets right now has nothing to do with what you've seen on the court. It has everything to do with one seemingly nasty label.
Forget their 10 straight playoff victories. Forget the feeling that this team's on a mission to win the championship.
The Nets represent the Eastern Conference.
And for that, many of you cannot forgive them, let alone foresee them hoisting the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
The NBA Finals begin Wednesday, and we'll see. Come ready to discredit the LEast again. New Jersey won't mind. Talk bad about the Nets' previous foes. Say that their Milwaukee-Boston-Detroit road here is ridiculously easy compared with the San Antonio Spurs' Phoenix-Los Angeles-Dallas trek.
