LOS ANGELES _ Milwaukee Brewers manager Ned Yost admits it: He is getting a little greedy.
For the past 3 { months, he urged his players to work hard, respect the game and compete hard until the final out.
Now, that isn't going to be enough.
During a meeting late last week in San Diego, Yost told his players that he was raising the bar of expectations and wanted them to do the same.
"We had to make a few adjustments," Yost said. "When we started this thing, we wanted to emphasize certain aspects like playing hard, playing the game the right way and competing for 27 outs.
"Well, our guys have been doing that pretty well. But you can't just stop there. You can't just say, `OK, we tried hard. Let's go home.' Now, we want them to take the next step, which is taking care of the little things that win ball games."
