May 27--CHUMASH ACQUIRE MOONEY LAND FOR CASINO ENTRANCE: After years of trying to sell their Santa Ynez property for seven figures, Edward and Jacqueline Mooney succeeded. It was protracted, but inevitable.

The couple owned a patch of land, about an acre, with a modest old house on it, set between Hwy. 246 and the Santa Ynez Indian Reservation.

Starting in 1995, they watched as the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians purchased 6.9 acres across the highway for a few million bucks, then bought another 1.8 acres on several parcels next door.
