May 28--Mayor Richard Daley on Tuesday placed his own exclamation point after a message delivered last week by a top aide: Union employees must agree to work-rule concessions that save the city money or risk loss of their jobs.
Union officials last year would not agree to five unpaid furlough days for their members, and that led to a round of layoffs, Daley said.
"Members came to me" to complain, the mayor related. "I said, `Go see your union leaders... Don't yell at me. Yell at them.' Simple as that."
